This history of the hamlet of Shinglestreet, at the mouth of the rivers Ore and Alde, tells the stories behind the people who lived there and the development of the hamlet – from an isolated pilot’s hut on the beach, through the attempt to make it a fashionable resort, to its current status as an unspoilt haven for wildlife.

The book includes numerous maps and photos of the area, together with the pilots, coastguards, mariners and beach men who made their home there.
